Debating [top]

The College regularly enters the Gael Linn Debating Competitions. Usually, there is a Junior and Senior team entered. The College team reached the All Ireland Final one year and also reached the All Ireland Final in the Competition for Gaeltacht Schools organised by Muintearas.

This is the second year for the Junior Team in the competition. They did very well last year. The team members are: Pól Ó Ceocháin (Captain), Ciara Ní Cheallacháin and Nicola Ní Chríodáin. Pól is a nephew of Liam Weir who won the All Ireland Title in this competition on the Coláise Iosagáin team.

There is a new team representing the College at Senior level, the team members are: Lucy Nic Cárthaigh (Captain), Eibhlín Ní Chlúmháin and Maitias Ó Luasaigh.

Music [top]

Music classes are given weekly on an individual basis. This year there are ten students altogether, learning such instruments as the tin whistle, the violin, the accordion and the concertina. Some of the students are beginners, while others are more experienced and play together in public on some occasions.

Art [top]

Art classes are conducted in the College two evening per week. There are classes for first year and second year pupils and classes are also available in preparation for the Junior Cert and Leaving Cert.

The classes for first and second years are for beginners. They study such topics as the design of posters, composition, sketching, three dimensional work and basic history of Art.

The Junior Cert students study art and craft and design. Leaving Cert students study the same topics and also the history of Art.

Singing [top]

Singing classes are available to support and develop the tradition of the area. The culture of the Gaeltacht is important and we all have a duty to cherish it. It is a part of our heritage and the management and staff of the College are glad to play a part in the protection of local tradition.
